….and We Back!

First and foremost I want to say thank you to all those who have rocked with and supported The phoenix project. Letter B: My baby turns 1 years old today! Yes thephoenixproject.blog has been up and running for a full year as of TODAY! The last 365 has been a wonderful journey; learning myself,  continuing to move forward and most importantly helping others in their own personal “phoenix projects”.  The support from all those who follow (ghost followers too) , share, like, comment, text with encouragement or convos,  and even stay on my head if I haven’t posted in a while doesn’t go unnoticed or unappreciated; so sincerely thank you all from the bottom of my lil ol emotional heart! May was a very eventful  month for the Phoenix project and I, and we have a lot to look forward to  in the months ahead and some exciting news just in time for summer that you can benefit from too! First though lets clap it up for Black love,  I kicked off my May  being a part of my Best friends wedding, not the movie style but legit Issa Union out here style! Ya’ll woulda thought I was jumping the G.D. broom the way I was actin but not in a steal the spotlight kinda way just an overall joy to be a part of two beautiful souls coming together, it was a legit vibe!

Because who takes typical wedding party photos anymore, right?! Congratulation to The Madisons I love you guys to life!

Next on the agenda, get ya calanders out. I have had the honor of teaming up with Ms. Jerret Johnson of Transform Sisters Network. Doing what you ask?! Hosting Community Yoga Classes every Monday 7pm-8pm for $5 at Ralph J. Bunche Academy located in Ecorse Michigan.  Transform sisters network  is a non-profit that provides new experiences to all those interested. Bringing people together with Ms. Johnsons efforts of opening up a community garden and now bringing  mindfulness through yoga. Classes are open to all and go through the end of the school year, which means we only got 3 Mondays of Mindful movement left, so I hope to see you there! Ms Johnson is a wellness advocate and encourages and supports all to attend and to connect with other members of the community, so come on out, bring ya mat if you have one and a fran if you have one or come make some new ones and leave your worries at the door!

Speaking of sisterhood and connecting and all that jazz;  I had the opportunity to sponsor and be a guest host of the first annual Sistah Sistah wellness retreat.  This being the first of many wellness retreats I will be a part of or hosting, created a safe space for like minded women of all ages to come together for a time of rejuvenation. Sharing their stories,  building communication skills, tapping into their creativity, shed some old skins, tears and habits, collaborating on and developing  business plans; And of course some yoga, taught by yours truly! I had the pleasure of co- hosting this event with  Sistah Sistahs’  founder Tanzania Fair. This young lady continues to inspire by mentoring the youth in her community, connecting with and educating her peers and straight killing the game leading by example going after her MBA, and just having a giving heart.

Group photo of the sistah sistah participants and hosts at Crooked Lake Resorts in Garfield MI. For those wondering, Tanzania is the third young lady from the left. 🙂

To be able to share the practice of yoga and introspection with these beauties was nothing short of amazing. This retreat along with each young lady was a blessing to my soul and the space and services provided by the Crooked lake team was pretty dope too!
